Faculty of Agriculture of the university is the only one in the European North of Russia. Students of all specialities receive fundamental general scientific and professional training applied in many spheres of activity. The students speaking foreign languages sufficiently have an opportunity to work on probation on agricultural farms and in educational institutions of Finland and Scandinavia. The graduates inclined to scientific work have an opportunity to accomplish postgraduate studies.
Within the Bachelor's program in 110400.62 Agronomy students obtain knowlegde of food security in areas of risk farming, as well as of modern technologies of cultivation of traditional and rare cultures, storage, processing and realization of products of plant growing.
The following special disciplines are introduced for Agronomy majors: world art of landscaping, phytodesign of cottage sites and court yards, technology of making of a garden and clipping, lawn science, florariums, book keeping, statistics, management and agro-logistics, industrial and business engineering in agrarian and industrial complex (small, medium and large enterprises, evaluation of financial condition of the organization, business-planning), harmonious dialogue methods, trading psychology.
High professional standard based on integration of knowledge of a wide spectrum of disciplines allows graduates to become top managers in agricultural organizations, agriculturists, beekeepers, experts of the agrochemical service, protection of plants, accomplishment and gardening of settlements, advisers on fruit-and-vegetable growing, floriculture and phytodesign, managers of agricultural sales, officers of centers for certification and standardization, in bodies of land management, in the sphere of ecology, in fytosanitory supervision and customs offices, in scientific institutes, as well as selectionists, seed growers and crop variety testing experts.
The Faculty of Agriculture also offeres Bachelor's dergee courses in 100800.62 Land Management and Cadastres, Merchandising, 111400.62 Water Resources and Aquaculture and 111100.62 - Animal Science (technology and management of production of raw material and products of animal origin).
110800.62 Agro-engineering (agriculture engineering). Mechanical engineers appliy their knowledge on agricultural productions of various types; machine-building and motor transportation enterprises; in the autoservice enterprises and associations; in design, research and educational institutions. Graduates of this branch are the most asked-for specialists in the labour market of Karelia.
