Creative laboratory of PetrSU
The chair was founded at the university in November of 1992. Science activity of the chair is aimed at research of issues of methodology of humanitarian knowledge, dialogue of cultures and forming the ethno-regional identity. The chair is the head in the program of development and adoption of regional component of federal educational standard of secondary education into educational system of Karelia "Culture of Karelia".
The ideas of humanity and humanitarisation the chair considers the most important to solve the problems of perfecting the university education. The teachers of the chair try to develop cultural outlook of students, to form creative approach to every professional activity and to acquaint them with general values. These are the main tasks of the teachers in educational process. That is why the instructors of the chair perform lectures on culturology and history of arts on all faculties.
Theoretical education is completed with practical participation of students in the activity of creative groups attached to the chair - academical choir of students (conductor Nikolai Matashin),
folk music ensemble "Toive"
(director G.V. Turovskiy), theatre-studio
(director Yu. P. Zdanovich) and ball dance ensemble "Elbeta" (supervisor L.P.Karavayeva). The choir and folk music ensemble are laureates and diplomants of Russian and international competitions and festivals. They realize active concert activity in Karelia, Russia and abroad. Their repertoire includes works of Russian and European choir music, national melodies, songs and dances of Karelia and Ingermanlandia.
There is a
creative laboratory attached to the department, which has such sections as photography, journalism, ball dance, tour guides and applied arts. Students learn to sew, to knit, to design clothes, to weave out of birch-bark, textile plastics, creating tapestries, art-design.
