Chair of world history has been founded in 1940. The chair trains specialists in all basic fields of the world history fron the ancient to modern times. A number of scientists carry out their research in the field of history of Finland, of Russian-Finnish relations, as well as history of Karelia in the context of relations between Russia and Finland.
