There is a post-graduate school at the chair wotking there since 1979 and headed by Z.K.Tarlanov. 
The chair has a specialized council for defending Ph.D. dissertations in the field of "Russian language".

  2. Historical stylistics of Russian language;
  3. History of Russian language
  4. Language and culture;
  5. Language and poetry of the Russian folklore (linguistic study of folklore)
  6. Public and personal culture and speech culture;
  7. Stylistics and poetics of literary speech;
  8. Disputable and unresolved issues of general theory of language and theory of Russian language;
  9. Ethnolinguistics;
  10. General and Caucasian linguistics.
