The Chair of computer aids design (CAD) was founded at the Faculty of Industrial and Civil Engineering of PetrSU in 1991 for development of the CAD specialization introduced in 1988 within the scope of the "Industrial and civil engineering" speciality caused by necessity to train experts for the rapidly developing sphere of modern systems of computer aids design and information technologies in various spheres of national economy including in the field of architecture and construction.

The Chair takes part in teaching students of the Faculty of Industrial and Civil Engineering only within the licensed speciality 270102.65 "Industrial and civil construction" using working programs of disciplines completely corresponding to the national educational standards of the speciality.
