The chair of water supply, hydraulics and water drain was founded in 1983 at the Faculty of Industrial and Civil Engineering by the order of the Rector to organize and govern academic process of the newly created major of Water supply, water drain, rational use and protection of water resources.
Having chosen this unique major, after two years of studying the student enters the chair of water supply, water drain and hydraulics and is under its guardianship until receiving a diploma during his or her 3, 4, 5 academic years.
For the PetrSU graduates willing to continue their education the chair offers postgraduate studies.
Scarcity of engineering personnel in the field of engineering methods of environment preservation in Karelia in the Northwest of Russia is observed, and upon stabilization of economic situation in the country demand for sanitary engineers will not be satisfied quite soon. For students interested in profound studying of related subjects - gas supply, heat supply, gathering and processing of firm household waste, wind and solar generators as nonconventional sources of heat and electric power, thermal pumps teaching can be organized according to their individual schedules.
