Culture and Cultural Traditions conference of international students

Conference of international students studying Russian, took place in NEOU PetrSU. As учебно-practical action it had before herself a problem to enable students of different levels of preparation to show the language and communicative competence got during studying of Russian. The theme «Culture and cultural traditions», assumed representation of culture of the country, proceeding from word meanings "culture".

Without exception all reports of speakers were accompanied by well prepared presentations in MS PowerPoint. Moreover, students used audio and video records which have made their reports vivid and unique.

By the end of the conference there passed democratic voting to premiate the Audience Choice Award. Frankly speaking, it was rather hard to make the choice, as the students have performed good preparation and skills to address to the audience in Russian which is not their native language. It is remarkable, that the head of the poll were reports and speakers that have covered subjects not related to achievements in the field of art, literature, etc., but truely discovering cultural experience and lifestyles of countries and people. Italian Elvira Oliva and the American Hana Alberts have gained doubtless sympathies of the audience and were awarded with special prizes. Besides, all participants of the conference have received collective gifts: a 2-kg cowberry pie and a concert organized by teachers of Russian language.

We should note, that such conferences have already become annual. Conferences on subjects of There's a Town Beyond the Blue Sky, Person, Society, State, My Universities have been held earlier. During the final week of the academic year some international students are going to leave, and some are going to continue improving their Russian language skills in the summer school. The conference is both a summary and a remarkable holiday for international students and their teachers who have met here, in Petrozavodsk, due to their interest and love for Russian langiage.
