Participation of PetrSU in work of the round table on issues of forest professional educationPetrozavodsk State University has taken part in work of the Round Table devoted to discussion of problems of forest professional education and creation of international council as a platform for discussion of issues related to the forest sector. The round table was held in the form of Internet video-conference on the basis of Syktyvkar Forest Institute.

Director of Syktyvkar Forest Institute V.Zhideleva, Vice-rector for Innovations, Doctor of Technical Engineering, Ilya Shegelman, Vice-rector for Education, Doctor of Technical Engineering, Vladimir Syunev, Dean of the Faculty of Forest Engineering, Doctor of Engineering, Alexander Pitukhin, Vice-rector for Development and External Relations of Mari State Technical University Doctor of Engineering A.Pavlov, Head of the Chair of machines and mechanisms of woodworking industry of Vyatka State University Associate Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences S.Ganapolsky, Rector of University of Applied Sciences of Tampere (Finland) Mark Lahtinen, representatives of Yugra State University, University of Rovaniemi (Finland), Umeå University of Agriculture (Sweden), Deputy Minister of National Policy of the Republic of Komi G.Gabusheva, Chief Adviser of the Committee of the Federation Council on North and Indigenous Minorities V.Tyurnin, Director General of the Union of Timber Merchants of the Republic of Komi V.Bondarenko, representatives of Mondi Syktyvkar Forestry Enterprise, Inc.

All participants of the meeting have supported unanimously the initiative of Syktyvkar Forest Institute on creation of the International Council on cooperation in the field of forest professional education in the Finno-Ugric countries and regions of Russia.

Deputy Minister of National Policy of the Republic of Komi G.Gabusheva has supported the idea of creation of the Council: "Since olden times Finno-Ugric people living in forest areas have been taking care of their resources. Therefore, the idea of international and inter-regional cooperation appeared in this environment. At the present stage it is very important to unite experience and efforts on promotion of new progressive technologies and training experts for the forest branch."
