Participation of PetrSU in the meeting of the Iinternational Association of the Finno-Ugric Universities held on the basis of Syktyvkar State University

Participation of PetrSU in the meeting of the Iinternational Association of the Finno-Ugric Universities held on the basis of Syktyvkar State UniversityOn September 21-22 in Syktyvkar there took place a regular session of the International Association of Finno-Ugric Universities in which Petrozavodsk State University has taken part as one of the leading classical universities of Russia. Representatives of universities of Komi, Udmurtiya, Mari-El, Mordovia, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area and Hungary also participated in session of the Association.

The Association was founded by Mari State University, the Dániel Berzsenyi Szombathely pedagogical institute (Hungary), Syktyvkar State University, Udmurt State University and Ugra State University.

Participation of PetrSU in the meeting of the Iinternational Association of the Finno-Ugric Universities held on the basis of Syktyvkar State UniversityPurposes of the International Association of Finno-Ugric Universities is exchange of experience, coordination and organization of teamwork of universities in the field of perfection of academic, methodical, research, cultural, educational and public work. The association develops uniform system of university education on specialities and directions of higher vocational education, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies in the field of history, language and culture of Finno-Ugric peoples.

Participation of PetrSU in the meeting of the Iinternational Association of the Finno-Ugric Universities held on the basis of Syktyvkar State UniversityPetrSU at the session was presented by the Vice-rector for Education, Professor Vladimir Syunev, Doctor of Technical Engineering. Results of work of the Association in 2008-2009 have been summed up at the meeting, activities for development and implementation of joint Finno-Ugric educational programs were planned.

Guests of Syktyvkar State University have got acquainted with structure of the university, its work, mainly in the field of training of experts in Finno-Ugric sciences, have visited chairs, faculties and botanical garden of the university.

At the final session presidency in the Association ws transferred from Mari State University to Udmurt State University, agreement on expansion of Association due to granting membership to representatives of other universities of the above mentioned regions was discussed.
