Meeting of representatives of Petrozavodsk State University with the delegation of the University of Helsinki

On September 17, 2009 there took place a meeting of representatives of Petrozavodsk State University with the delegation from Ruralia Institute which is a division of the University of Helsinki in Mikkeli, Finland.

The Finnish party at the meeting was presented by Director of Ruralia Institute Professor Pirjo Siiskonen, Professor Tapani Koppa, Development Director Manu Rantanen, developer of project applications Tytti Klen, project manager Seija Paksu.

The Russian party was represented by the Head of Directorate for International Cooperation of PetrSU Lyudmila Kulikovskaya, Deputy Head of Directorate for International Cooperation of PetrSU O.Zvyagina, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of PetrSU Nikita Onischenko, Head of Chair of agronomy and soil science Lubov Yevstratova, Chief of the Department of International Projects and Programmes of PetrSU Ksenia Kuznetsova, main specialist of the Department of Educational Technologies Alla Koryakina.

The meeting was devoted to prospects of cooperation between PetrSU abd Ruralia Institute. Among the Institute's fields of activity there are such directions as studying of resources of the rural areas, production of wholefood, development of rural regions and community, development of entrepreneurship in rural areas, ecological tourism.

Participants of the meeting have expressed great interest in carrying out of teamwork in these areas and have pointed out especial importance of development of rural areas in the modern contex. Besides, participants of the meeting have discussed the opportunity of academic exchanges, seasonal training of students of the Faculty of Agriculture in Finland, development of remote forms of training, research work, improvement of professional skills of adult population.

As a result of the meeting the arrangement on cooperation between Ruralia Institute and Petrozavodsk State University in discussed spheres was reached.
