The Petrozavodsk University Press consists of three departments: Philological Literature, Literature and Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Technical Literature.

In 1995 800 printer's sheets were published. Mostly those were monographs, including those made in cooperation with the authors from Finland and Great Britain, Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Press is also going to publish the academic edition of Dostoyevsky's complete works in the original.

The high qualification of the University Press staff and the Apple Macintosh computer equipment enables it to publish very complex scientific texts. The "The Gospel texts in Russian Literature" monograph, published in 1994, has been acknowledged by critique as the years best scientific publication in Russia. Another book, "New Aspects in Studying Dostoyevsky's works", has received an international recognition.

In November 1994 the Petrozavodsk University Press held a seminar-conference for the chief managers of the university presses in Russia.
