The Department of International Projects and Programmes is the subdivision of the Directorate of International Cooperation. It was founded with the purpose of improving the organizational, scientific, and methodical activities of PetrSU in the field of international projects and programmes.

Main directions of the department:

• Expertise-advisory activity. The staff of the department gives consultations and provides the expertise support with the preparation, legalization, document feed to pursue grants and internships of the international funds, programmes, and organizations. In addition, the staff helps with the reports on projects which are financed by foreign sources.
• Fundraising and research for partners. The department plays a very important role in the establishment and development of scientific, research, exchange and educational contacts of PetrSU with foreign partners. The staff of the department gives consultations concerning international partnership, facilitates establishing of partnership. In the framework of this field the staff is working on the development and systematization of a database of current and potential international partners of PetrSU and maintains contact with the representatives of international funds in the Republic of Karelia and in Russia.
• Informational analytical activity. Generalization and analysis of experience of organization of international projects and programmes of PetrSU and other universities of Russia creates the necessary prerequisites for successful activity of international projects. It includes the gathering and systematization of information about projects and programmes that are held or were held at PetrSU.
• Teaching of project management. Teaching basics of project management and fundraising enhances the quantity and quality of international projects for the university staff and post-graduate students. Annually, the department together with the Faculty of Improvement of Professional Skills conducts the Project Management School for teachers and the staff of the university. In the framework of the Centre of Project Management, some informational and educational seminars with the representatives of international funds and organizations are held as well.
